Tauck Launches U.K. Sales Team, Reservations Center & Marketing Efforts

Tauck’s Land Journeys and Cruises Now Priced in GBP for the U.K. Market

NORWALK, CT (October 14, 2014)  Tauck, the 90-year-old leader in premium quality guided tours, river cruises and small ship ocean cruises, is taking big steps to better serve U.K.-based travelers and travel agents.  The company recently hired a field sales force to serve the U.K. market, it has opened a new reservations center in London, and it is launching a new U.K. website and travel brochures priced in GBP.  This marks the first time ever in Tauck’s 90-year history that the company has embarked on any such initiatives in a foreign country. 

According to Steve Spivak, Tauck Vice President, Global Sales, the expanded efforts in the U.K. are all about providing service commensurate with the quality of Tauck’s journeys.  “We currently bring travelers to more than 70 countries, so operationally we’re already a global company, and last year we actually hosted travelers from more than 80 different countries on our tours and cruises,” said Spivak.  “However, in order to provide the best possible service to U.K.-based travelers and travel agents, we knew we had to have more of a presence here.  We’ve clearly made that commitment, and we’re looking forward to better serving our guests and travel agents in the U.K. market.”

Leading Tauck’s new three-person sales team as U.K. & Ireland Country Manager is Ray Steward, a travel industry veteran of nearly 30 years.  Steward joins Tauck after holding sales, marketing and general management positions at firms including Western & Oriental Travel and Regent Holidays, and Mundicolor Holidays.  Most recently, Steward was  Sales & Marketing Director for The Cruise Portfolio.  In addition to managing Tauck’s overall sales and marketing efforts in the U.K. Stewart will also personally manage the company’s accounts in the southeast of England.  Emma Taylor brings over 15 years of travel industry experience to her new role as Tauck Sales Manager, including past positions with Mundy Cruising and The Cruise Portfolio.   With Tauck, she’ll oversee accounts in Northern Ireland, Ireland, southwestern England, and southern Wales, Tauck Sales Manager Kathryn Coles has been in the industry for over two decades, holding various sales, revenue, operational and account management roles with both Club Med and Kirker Holidays. Coles will manage Tauck’s accounts in central and northern England, as well as northern Wales, Scotland and the Channel Islands.

Earlier this month Tauck also launched a new U.K. Reservations Sales Center, with company personnel assisting agents and travelers via its just-established toll-free number, 0800 810 8020, and through email at tauckreservations@tauck.co.uk.  Tauck personnel are currently in the U.K. staffing the new call center, while the new U.K. Reservations Sales Counselors are undergoing training at Tauck’s U.S. headquarters. 

To support its expanded presence in the U.K., Tauck has also launched a new website, www.tauck.co.uk, and it will be producing British iterations of selected brochures.  The first such brochure is now available, and the 116-page volume highlights 45 of Tauck’s land and cruise itineraries in Europe, North America, Africa, Asia, South America, the Middle East and Australia/New Zealand.  Tauck’s journeys are priced in Sterling, air-inclusive packages are now available, and all itineraries are ATOL of ABTA-protected.

Tauck will also be hosting approximately 75 U.K. agents aboard its newly-launched ms Savor riverboat from November 1 – 5, when they attend an educational Tauck Academy seminar.  By successfully completing the Tauck Academy curriculum, attendees become Tauck Certified agents who qualify for special benefits and other exclusive opportunities provided  by the company.  Tauck Academy includes nine hours of intensive classroom training followed by a comprehensive exam.  Topics covered include Tauck’s history, details of the company’s extensive product line, and what separates Tauck’s tours and cruises from those of its competitors.
