Tauck’s New Colorado Tour Celebrates Local Culture, Natural Wonders

Eight-Day Itinerary Highlights Denver, Colorado Springs, Vail and Boulder

WILTON, CT (February 17, 2017)  Tauck is introducing a new tour itinerary in Colorado that not only highlights the state’s renowned natural wonders, but also explores its rich history and culture.  The company’s new “Colorado: Denver, Boulder & the Rockies” tour begins with a two-night stay in Denver followed by an overnight in Colorado Springs, before concluding with two-night stays in Vail and Boulder.

The addition of the Colorado tour comes amid increased demand for Tauck itineraries featuring the U.S. National Parks, according to the company, and the new tour will include a visit to Rocky Mountain National Park.  In all, Tauck’s U.S. tours visit some 50 National Parks or other National Park Service-administered sites, and the company cites momentum begun with last year’s National Park Service centennial for the increased interest.  Tauck has been bringing guests to the National Parks since its very first tour in 1925, and today it partners with filmmaker Ken Burns on its parks itineraries.  Burns has been regarded as an authority on and champion of the parks since his acclaimed 2009 documentary, “The National Parks: America’s Best Idea.”

Tauck guests will get their first taste of Colorado culture in Denver, where they’ll visit the Molly Brown House.  This Victorian-styled residence is the former home of philanthropist, socialite and activist Margaret Brown, known as “The Unsinkable Molly Brown” for having survived the sinking of the Titanic.  Colorado’s past will also be on display as guests visit the historic town of Leadville, where gold, silver, and lead mining in the 1800s briefly made it one of the wealthiest cities in America.  And the state’s gustatory offerings will tempt Tauck guests as they enjoy a culinary demonstration in Vail, and during tours and tastings at Stranahan’s Whiskey Distillery in Denver and the Celestial Seasonings tea company in Boulder.

Colorado is also famous for its incredible landscapes, and Tauck guests will marvel at panoramic views as they ascend by cog wheel train to the 14,115-foot summit of Pikes Peak, and as they explore Rocky Mountain National Park along the Trail Ridge Road, a designated national scenic byway and the highest continuous paved highway in the U.S.  Guests will also tour the Garden of the Gods, a 1,300-acre rock garden of towering red sandstone formations, and get an aerial perspective as they soar over the Rocky Mountains during an early morning hot air balloon ride.

SUPERIOR ACCOMMODATIONS INCLUDE HISTORIC HOTELS
Throughout their travels, Tauck guests will enjoy accommodations in superior hotels and resorts.  In Denver, guests will spend two nights at the historic Brown Palace Hotel, which has operated continuously since its opening in 1892.  The Mining Exchange will host Tauck groups during their stay in Colorado Springs.  Now a Wyndham Grand Hotel & Spa, it opened in 1902 as a stock exchange for local mining companies.  In the iconic skiing town of Vail, guests will enjoy the service and décor of the Four Seasons Resort and Residences, and in Boulder, the St. Julien Hotel & Spa is ideally situated near the University of Colorado campus, the historic Pearl Street Mall, and hiking and biking paths.

“Colorado: Denver, Boulder & the Rockies” is priced from $3,990 per person (double occupancy, plus airfare), with all accommodations, ground transportation, admission fees, gratuities to local guides, airport transfers, luggage handling and more included.  The tour launches this coming June, with eight departures running through the summer and into September.  Those interested in more information can contact their local travel professional, call Tauck at 800 468 2825, or visit the company’s website at www.tauck.com.
